Can a monthly phone call keep chronic pain at bay? new study tests booster therapy

NCT ID NCT04680000

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether adding monthly booster contacts to a short course of cognitive behavioral therapy helps people with chronic pain manage their symptoms longer. About 716 military health system beneficiaries with ongoing pain will be randomly assigned to receive the therapy alone or with monthly boosters. Researchers will track pain levels and mental health over 18 months to see if the extra support makes a difference.
