First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at whether adding monthly booster sessions to a short course of cognitive behavioral therapy (a type of talk therapy) helps people with chronic pain manage their symptoms better over time. About 716 military health system beneficiaries (active duty, veterans, and family members) with ongoing pain will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard therapy or the therapy plus monthly boosters. Researchers will track pain levels and mental health for up to 18 months to see which approach works better.
