Diabetes cough mystery probed in tiny study

NCT ID NCT03787511

First seen Jun 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at whether people with type 2 diabetes who have a chronic cough also have more nerve damage (small fiber neuropathy) than those without a cough. Researchers planned to compare cough severity and nerve function in two groups of diabetic patients. The study was terminated early and only enrolled 7 participants, so results are very limited.
