Cholesterol drug may unleash immune cells against prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT06437574

First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether intensive cholesterol-lowering therapy can increase immune cells (CD8+ T cells) in the prostate of men with prostate cancer who are on active surveillance. About 140 participants will take a combination cholesterol drug (Vytorin or ezetimibe) for 3-6 months before a planned biopsy. The goal is to see if lowering cholesterol helps the body's own immune system target the cancer.
