Braces wearers rejoice: dental varnish fights gum overgrowth and plaque
NCT ID NCT07115784
First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tested a chlorohexidine varnish (a protective dental coating) on 22 people with braces. Each person's mouth was split in half: one side got the active varnish, the other a placebo. Over 3 months, researchers measured gum overgrowth, plaque buildup, and early tooth decay (white spots). The goal was to see if the varnish helps control these common brace-related problems.
