Pesticide exposure linked to prostate cancer in the caribbean?

NCT ID NCT06773806

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether exposure to chlordecone, a pesticide banned in 1993 but still present in the environment, increases the risk of prostate cancer in men living in Martinique. Researchers will compare 3,600 men—some with prostate cancer and some without—measuring chlordecone levels in their blood and through questionnaires. The goal is to understand if this chemical is a key factor in the high prostate cancer rates seen in the French West Indies.
