Screen time and sight: new study probes vision problems in swedish kids

NCT ID NCT07653074

First seen Jun 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how nearsightedness (myopia) and other vision issues affect the quality of life of children and teens in Sweden. Researchers will examine 300 healthy kids aged 0-17, using detailed eye tests and a translated questionnaire called the PedEyeQ. The goal is to create a reliable Swedish tool to measure vision-related well-being and to compare how common refractive errors are today versus 20-30 years ago.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could provide a validated tool to measure how vision problems affect children's daily lives, helping doctors and researchers better support young patients.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not test any new therapy, so it cannot directly improve vision or cure myopia.
