Community health workers take on epilepsy care in groundbreaking african trial

NCT ID NCT04290975

Summary

This study tested whether specially trained community health workers could provide epilepsy care for children in Nigeria as effectively as doctors. It aimed to close the huge treatment gap where most children with epilepsy in Africa go untreated. The trial compared seizure control in children cared for by these workers versus those referred to physicians.
