Breakthrough blood test could spot dangerous child infections faster
NCT ID NCT03163628
Summary
This study aimed to find better ways to tell if a young child's fever is caused by a serious bacterial infection or a less dangerous viral one. Researchers tested seven different blood markers in nearly 1,000 children under 3 years old who came to the emergency room with a fever. The goal was to see if a combination of these markers could diagnose severe infections more accurately than the standard tests doctors use today.
