Heart-Safe chemo combo for leukemia shows promise in early trial
NCT ID NCT02971397
First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This early-phase study looked at how well a combination of two chemotherapy drugs (cytarabine and daunorubicin) works for adults newly diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and whether giving one drug as a continuous infusion might be safer for the heart. About 40 participants received the treatment and were closely monitored with heart MRI scans to check for any heart-related side effects. The main goal was to see if this approach is safe and feasible.
