New gel could replace the scalpel for leg ulcer cleaning
NCT ID NCT06652360
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested two methods for cleaning hard-to-heal leg ulcers: a chemical gel that dissolves dead tissue and a scraping technique called curettage. Researchers wanted to see which is safer and more effective at removing debris and helping wounds heal. The study involved 80 adults with venous or mixed leg ulcers that had been present for at least 6 weeks.
