First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study tests whether using a chat-based mobile app (Zalo) can help people follow through with recommended tests after an abnormal chest X-ray read by AI. About 2,692 adults in Vietnam at risk for lung cancer or TB will be randomly assigned to receive either standard results or extra chat-based guidance and doctor access. The goal is to see if digital support boosts follow-up rates and speeds up diagnosis.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
chat-based mobile application (Zalo) for consultation and education
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a low-cost, scalable way to improve follow-up after lung disease screening, leading to earlier diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and TB.
What could go wrong
This is a single-center trial in Vietnam, so results may not apply elsewhere. It relies on patients having a smartphone and Zalo account, and compliance is self-reported, which may be inaccurate.
