First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a 16-week program of chair exercises followed by activities with children could improve frailty and a brain-health marker in 100 older adults with both physical and cognitive decline. Participants did seated workouts that increased in frequency, then spent time at an orphanage. The researchers measured grip strength, walking speed, memory tests, and a blood marker called mBDNF. The goal was to see if combining physical and social activities offers extra benefits.
