Could ultrasound replace CT scans for kids with belly injuries?
NCT ID NCT03473249
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a special ultrasound (contrast-enhanced ultrasound) can accurately find internal organ injuries in young children (under 8) who have had a hard hit to the belly, like from a fall or car crash. The goal is to see if this ultrasound works as well as a CT scan, which uses radiation. About 120 children will take part, and the results will help doctors decide if the safer ultrasound can be used instead of CT.
