Researchers probe hidden reason cervix cancer defies radiation
NCT ID NCT01641484
Summary
This study aimed to understand why cervix cancer sometimes comes back after standard radiation and chemotherapy. Researchers tested whether a lack of oxygen (hypoxia) in the tumor during early treatment could predict if the cancer would be controlled. They enrolled 9 patients with cervix cancer to track tumor oxygen levels using MRI and PET scans during their radiation therapy.
