New radiation technique could replace brachytherapy for cervical cancer
NCT ID NCT06560697
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study compares two types of radiation boost after standard chemo-radiation for locally advanced cervical cancer: a newer method called stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) versus the standard brachytherapy. About 84 women with stage IB3 to IIIC1 cervical cancer will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The goal is to see if SBRT is as safe and effective as brachytherapy, which could offer a more accessible option for hospitals without brachytherapy equipment.
