First-of-its-Kind cell therapy tested to fix torn shoulders

NCT ID NCT04057833

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether adding lab-grown human umbilical vein cells to standard shoulder surgery is safe and might improve healing. The trial will enroll 20 adults aged 45-70 who have a full tear of a specific shoulder tendon and have not improved with physical therapy. Researchers will implant the cells directly into the repair site during surgery to see if they help the tendon heal better and reduce the chance of re-tearing.
