Summary
This study tested a new approach for athletes recovering from ACL surgery: combining cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with virtual reality (VR) sessions. The goal was to reduce fear of re-injury and improve adherence to physical rehab. Sixty professional football, volleyball, and basketball players participated. Results showed that adding CBT and VR helped lower anxiety and boosted confidence in returning to sport.
