New study tests if letting catheters fall out naturally is better than nurse removal

NCT ID NCT05313945

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at two methods of removing a bladder catheter after urological surgery in men. One method is the usual way, where a nurse pulls it out. The other method lets the catheter fall out on its own due to gravity. The goal is to see which method makes patients more satisfied and causes less pain and anxiety. About 160 men who had certain prostate or urethra surgeries will take part.
