Which works better: doctor or family contact for genetic screening?

NCT ID NCT05348564

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests two methods of notifying family members about their risk for inherited heart conditions like Long QT Syndrome and Familial Hypercholesterolemia. About 200 adults who carry a specific gene variant will be randomly assigned to either contact their relatives themselves or have the study team reach out. The goal is to see which approach leads to more family members getting tested and to understand how each method affects privacy and anxiety.
