First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Sep 10, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests two simple, non-drug methods to reduce pain and fear in children aged 6-9 during blood draws. One group watches a cartoon, the other squeezes a stress ball. Researchers will measure pain and fear levels during the procedure to see which works better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- cartoon watching or ball squeezing
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could give parents and nurses simple, drug-free ways to help children feel less pain and fear during blood draws.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 68 children, so results may not apply to all kids. The effects may be small or no different between the two methods.
