New drug cocktail shows promise in battling blood cancer before transplant
NCT ID NCT01816971
First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested a combination of three drugs (carfilzomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone) given before and after a stem cell transplant in 76 people newly diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The goal was to see if this approach could kill more cancer cells and improve response rates. While the treatment aims to control the disease, patients may need ongoing therapy, so it is not a cure.
