Zapping the heart: radiation may tame stubborn racing rhythms

NCT ID NCT06593418

First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests a new way to treat a dangerous heart rhythm called ventricular tachycardia (VT) that hasn't been helped by standard treatments or medications. About 24 adults who already have a heart defibrillator will receive a single, targeted dose of radiation to the heart area causing the problem. The goal is to find the lowest effective dose that reduces VT episodes and to see if special MRI scans can better guide the treatment.
