Pepper patch may beat pills for Post-Surgery breast cancer pain

NCT ID NCT03794388

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested whether a capsaicin skin patch (made from chili peppers) works better than oral pregabalin for nerve pain that starts soon after breast cancer surgery. 140 patients were randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The goal was to see if early treatment with the patch could reduce chronic pain at 6 months. The patch is applied directly to the painful area and avoids the whole-body side effects of oral medication.
