New study aims to catch stoned drivers with In-Car tech

NCT ID NCT07401628

First seen Feb 11, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests whether sensors inside a car can tell if a driver is impaired by cannabis. Forty-five healthy adults who regularly use cannabis will drive on a closed track after consuming cannabis or nothing. Researchers will use data from the car, cameras, and body sensors to build a computer model that spots impaired driving. The goal is to improve road safety, not to treat or cure any disease.
