First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested whether smelling cang-ai volatile oil (CAVO) can ease depression symptoms. Sixty adults with depression were split into two groups: one smelled CAVO and the other smelled bergamot essential oil daily for one month. Researchers used brain scans and depression questionnaires to measure changes. The goal was to see if CAVO affects brain activity and reduces depression severity.
