Summary

This pilot study tested whether propranolol, a beta-blocker, reduces alcohol drinking in stressed adults with alcohol use disorder. Twenty participants took either propranolol or a placebo for two weeks, then completed two lab sessions where they were exposed to stress or relaxation before being allowed to drink alcohol. The goal was to see if the drug lowers the amount of alcohol consumed after stress.
