Electric zaps to the forearm: a quick boost for grip and reflexes?
NCT ID NCT07745829
First seen Aug 04, 2026 · Last updated Aug 05, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study explores whether a single session of high-voltage pulsed galvanic stimulation (HVPGS) applied to the forearm can immediately enhance hand grip strength and reaction time in healthy adults. Forty-two volunteers aged 18 to 65 will receive the stimulation, with their grip strength and reaction speed measured before and right after. The goal is to see if this non-invasive technique can produce quick, measurable improvements in neuromuscular performance.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- High-Voltage Pulsed Galvanic Stimulation (HVPGS) applied to forearm flexor muscles
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a quick, non-invasive way to temporarily boost hand strength and reaction speed, potentially aiding rehabilitation or athletic performance.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, single-session study in healthy volunteers, so any effects may be short-lived and may not apply to people with injuries or conditions. The results are preliminary and need further testing.
