Could a simple supplement boost immune cells in obesity?
NCT ID NCT07583017
First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at whether taking a calcium butyrate supplement for 4 weeks can improve how immune cells (monocytes) work and change gut bacteria in adults with obesity. Butyrate is a natural substance made by healthy gut bacteria, but people with obesity often have less of it. The study will compare the supplement to a placebo in 42 adults to see if it helps reduce inflammation linked to obesity.
