First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This early-phase trial is testing whether adding an experimental drug called CA-4948 to standard chemotherapy (FOLFOX) and a targeted therapy (bevacizumab) is safe for people with metastatic colorectal cancer. About 24 adults whose cancer has spread and cannot be surgically removed will take part. The main goals are to find the best dose and identify any side effects.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

CA-4948 (emavusertib) combined with FOLFOX (fluorouracil, leucovorin, oxaliplatin) and bevacizumab

What this could lead to

If this combination proves safe and effective, it could offer a new frontline treatment option for people with metastatic colorectal cancer.

What could go wrong

This is a very early Phase I trial with only 24 participants, focused on safety and dosing. It is too small to prove effectiveness, and the drug combination may cause significant side effects or fail to improve outcomes.

Conditions
