Baltimore pilot uses digital avatars to help smokers quit

NCT ID NCT06545669

First seen Nov 15, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This pilot study tested whether a computer program featuring an avatar (a digital guide) could help adults in low-income housing in Baltimore quit smoking and connect them with lung cancer screening. Ten participants were enrolled and followed for 6 months. The main goal was to see if the approach was acceptable and feasible, not to measure long-term quit rates.
