Ancient fungus tested in fight against ALS

NCT ID NCT07467746

Summary

This study is testing whether an oral preparation made from the Cordyceps cicadae fungus can slow the progression of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in patients who have specific elevated fat molecules in their blood. About 84 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the Cordyceps preparation or a placebo for 6 months, with follow-up for 9 months total. The main goals are to see if the treatment improves physical function scores and lowers those specific blood fat levels.
