Could a simple supplement protect Babies' guts during heart surgery?

NCT ID NCT06882772

Summary

This study is testing whether a butyric acid supplement, given for three weeks before heart surgery, can improve gut health and reduce harmful inflammation in infants and young children with congenital heart disease. Researchers will give the liquid supplement or a placebo to about 105 children aged 1 month to 3 years to check its safety and see if it helps their bodies recover better after surgery. The main goal is to see if the supplement makes the surgery safer by supporting the child's gut and immune system.
