Gut supplement trial aims to protect babies during heart surgery
NCT ID NCT06882772
Summary
This study is testing whether a butyric acid supplement can improve gut health in infants and young children (1 month to 3 years old) with congenital heart disease before they undergo heart surgery. Researchers want to see if taking the supplement daily for three weeks before surgery is safe and if it helps reduce gut problems and inflammation after the operation. The study will compare two different doses of the supplement against a placebo in about 105 children.
