New approach aims to get addiction medication to parolees faster

NCT ID NCT03616236

Summary

This study compares two ways to help people on probation or parole who have opioid addiction. One group starts taking the medication buprenorphine right away at the parole office, while the other gets the usual referral to a community clinic. Researchers want to see if starting medication immediately helps people stay in treatment longer, use fewer illicit opioids, and have better health and legal outcomes over one year.
