Asthma drug may cool down dangerous transplant fevers

Summary
This study tests whether budesonide, a steroid often used for asthma, can prevent fevers caused by engraftment syndrome after a stem cell transplant. About 110 adults with blood cancers will receive the drug starting five days after their transplant. The goal is to see if it reduces fevers that are not due to infection.
