Pineapple enzyme tested to shrink Post-Surgery puffiness

NCT ID NCT07115212

Summary

This study is testing whether a dietary supplement called bromelain, an enzyme from pineapples, can help reduce facial swelling after corrective jaw surgery. Researchers will enroll 200 patients having this surgery to see if taking bromelain for 9 days (starting 2 days before surgery) decreases swelling amount and duration compared to not taking it. The main goal is to see if this supplement can make recovery more comfortable for patients.
