Short talk therapy eases pain's grip on veterans' daily lives

NCT ID NCT04724694

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tested a short form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for veterans with long-term muscle or bone pain. 184 veterans received either six 30-minute therapy sessions plus usual care, or usual care alone. The goal was to see if the therapy helped them do daily activities with less pain interference. Results will show if this brief program should be offered widely in VA primary care clinics.
