First seen Mar 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding paced or diaphragmatic breathing to mat Pilates can improve heart and lung fitness, reduce shortness of breath, lower stress and anxiety, and boost quality of life in people with stage II high blood pressure. Sixty-three adults aged 40 to 50 took part in supervised sessions three times a week for six weeks. The results help show which breathing technique works best alongside exercise for managing high blood pressure.
