Gentler breathing for preemies: study tests slower lung inflation

Summary
This study aims to find the gentlest way to help extremely premature babies breathe using a machine. It will compare two settings that control how quickly the machine inflates the baby's lungs: a fast setting currently used and a slower one that might cause less damage. The main goal is to see if the slower setting is just as good at keeping oxygen levels stable in 68 babies born before 28 weeks.
