Breathe away the pain: simple breathing tricks ease dialysis needle stress

NCT ID NCT07427875

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether guided breathing exercises (4-7-8 breathing and diaphragmatic breathing) can help reduce pain, anxiety, and improve comfort during the needle insertion for dialysis. 90 adults on hemodialysis were split into three groups: two doing different breathing exercises and one receiving usual care. The goal was to see if these simple, drug-free techniques could make a painful routine more tolerable.
