New nerve block aims to ease breathing after surgery
NCT ID NCT07216820
Summary
This study is testing if a specific type of nerve block, designed to spare a breathing muscle, can reduce early breathing problems after shoulder surgery in adults with obesity. Researchers will compare this new approach to the standard nerve block to see if it lowers breathlessness and oxygen needs in the recovery room while still providing good pain relief. They will also test if a simple pre-surgery breathing strength test can help identify patients at higher risk for these problems.
