Can some breast cancer patients safely skip radiation?

NCT ID NCT02400190

Summary

This study is gathering information to see if certain postmenopausal women with early-stage, hormone-sensitive breast cancer might safely avoid radiation treatment after lumpectomy surgery. The women in this study have a specific low-risk tumor profile and will take hormone-blocking pills for at least 5 years. Researchers will track them for 10 years to see if their cancer returns, aiming to identify patients for whom skipping radiation could be a reasonable option.
