New spinal fluid test could spot hidden breast cancer spread

Summary
This study looked for better ways to detect when breast cancer spreads to the lining of the brain and spinal cord, a condition called leptomeningeal metastases. Researchers collected spinal fluid from 51 patients with suspected spread and compared a new blood-based detection method with standard lab tests. The goal was to find more accurate markers to diagnose this serious complication earlier.
