Brain waves may reveal Post-Surgery thinking risks in seniors

NCT ID NCT04189861

First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at whether monitoring brain waves during anesthesia can help predict memory and thinking problems after surgery in adults aged 60-80. Researchers tracked 31 participants having non-cardiac surgery and tested their thinking before and 3 months after. The goal was to see if brain activity patterns could forecast who might have trouble thinking clearly after an operation.
