Brain thermometer: could targeting brain temperature improve fever control after injury?
NCT ID NCT03967626
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using the brain's own temperature to guide cooling treatment works better than using body temperature in people with severe brain injury. Forty-one adults with brain injury and fever were enrolled. The goal was to see if brain-based cooling keeps the brain in the target temperature range more consistently. The study did not test a new treatment, but rather a different way of using existing cooling devices.
