Scientists probe Brain's inner workings to improve depression treatment

NCT ID NCT07560878

First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study aims to understand how a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called continuous theta-burst stimulation (cTBS) affects brain activity in people with major depression. Researchers will give participants a single dose of different FDA-approved medications that boost or block specific brain chemicals, then measure brain responses with EEG. The goal is to uncover the biological mechanism behind cTBS, which could lead to more personalized and effective treatments. About 80 adults with moderate to severe depression will take part.
