Could a tiny electric zap to the brain boost speech in progressive language disorders?

NCT ID NCT05368350

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a low-level electric current applied to specific brain areas can improve speech and language in people with primary progressive aphasia (PPA) and apraxia of speech. Twelve adults aged 18 to 85 with these conditions will receive the stimulation and be evaluated with speech and thinking tests. The goal is to see if this safe, non-invasive technique can ease symptoms and improve communication.
