Zapping the brain to fight language loss

NCT ID NCT04046991

Summary

This study tested whether a combination of gentle brain stimulation and speech therapy could help people with primary progressive aphasia (PPA), a condition that causes gradual loss of language skills. 76 participants received either real or fake (sham) brain stimulation alongside therapy over 10 days. Researchers measured changes in language ability and brain activity immediately after treatment and again three months later to see if the real stimulation provided lasting benefits.
