Summary
This study looked at whether heavy drinking causes brain inflammation and affects memory, attention, and thinking. Researchers used brain scans (PET and MRI) to measure inflammation in 74 adults with alcohol use disorder and healthy volunteers. The goal was to see if inflammation goes away after stopping alcohol for at least 3 weeks.
