Tiny study reveals bleeding risk in stroke patients with 'fragile vessel' brain condition

NCT ID NCT05565144

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looked back at 15 stroke patients who had a condition called cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), which makes blood vessels in the brain fragile and prone to bleeding. All received a clot-busting drug (IV thrombolysis) for their stroke. Researchers checked CT scans 24 hours later for any new brain bleeding and tracked how well patients recovered by the time they left the hospital. The goal was to better understand bleeding risks and outcomes in this specific group.
